I have had my bosses saying that they may have to finnish me because of my RA and Fibro but I have been doing the paper work and assessment part of my job as a teacher for first aid and my OT has said i can not do the physicle side of the job but can do the assessments at the end of the course and all the filing and paper work that has to be done.
I have been doing the paperwork side of it for 15mths now and they have now desided to have a go.
Had ameeting with them and my union reps was with me and the bossess was not happy with what they said on my behalf as they said they was un aware of any changes they had to do with my job to let me carry on working they was trying to say they had not heard of the DDa act my union said they was useing this excuse to try and get me out they did not know i would put up a fight because one of my colleges had the same 3mths ago and she did not fight and they got her out so we will have to see what happens will keep you up to date .

Hi Audrey,
The fact they have not heard of the act is irrelevant or even the new Equalities Act for which a breakdown be seen here :
http://www.nras.org.uk/a..._equality_act_2010.aspx
and was in the Winter newsletter .Especially read the bottom part with regard your responsibilities .

I cannot add anything that the Union wouldn't already have told you , and that it is great you have a union there to assist you , other than to wish you good luck and hope this is resolved very soon.

Rich :)

Audrey, they are so out of order! Any decent boss should be getting support from human resources in this sort of situation and they should be fully aware of all their obligations under disability legislation. Hope your union rep is standing up for you and if you want it, fight all the way! Rooting for you, good luck

Having been through a difficult time myself re capability procedures, I'd say fight it all the way. it sounds like your union are on the ball. There were times when I felt like giving in. The same thing has happened to some of my colleagues too- they didn't fight either. I decided to put up a fight and the management weren't expecting it. My union rep mamnaged to pick several holes in their arguments.
good luck with ti all

Maria
